  1. Oh your quilts are GREAT! I love them all, they are beautiful! :)

You asked about how I sow my seeds - yes you're right they are outside in zippies in the snow! LOL* Have you ever heard of winter sowing? There's like an entire movement of winter sowers and this lady who developed the method, I don't know why she doesn't have a book yet!?! Anyhow I learned about it through the forums on Garden Web (www.gardenweb.com) and also through Trudi's site, www.wintersown.org. Basically the idea is to take recyclable containers and use regular potting soil and create little greenhouses. Any seed that is perennial in your area or self sows can be winter sown. Also anything that needs cold stratification (I choose things that need nicking or soaking) can be winter sown. People usually start after winter solstice in December and sow up until spring. The seeds recognize it's too cold to come up and generally don't sprout until spring, but you can get a few weeks up on your sprouts and you won't have to harden them off. I really love it because I don't have a lot of room for an indoor set up! This is only my second year winter sowing so I'm no expert, but I can tell you it's a really convenient method I've had great luck with...if you're interested you should check out those sites and try it out! :)
